What is currently the best hardware setup for experiencing VR?

The Oculus Rift has been discontinued for years now, and the Oculus Quest 2 seems to be the new device from Meta (Facebook). Is that the best one?, or are there other alternatives? Ideally Open Source, but if not, that's OK.

<p>The Valve Index in combination with HTC Vive seems to be as the best option, not cheap but better than any other VR I have experienced.</p><p><br></p><p>Valve also is a strong proponent of open sourcing, community coworking and non exclusives. Worlds between company policy of Meta and Valve.</p><p><br></p><p>Half Life Alyx is just the icing on the cake, as the first and imo only AAA title ever native VR title.</p>
